Rosaries

The name is Steph but you can call me whatever you find fitting.

These are things that I like, things that I find funny and things that happen in my day-to-day life.

Have a good day everyone, or sleep well, wherever you are.

SWEATER.

Friday night Sara and I went to the Arkells show at the Hamilton Convention Center. We had a pretty good spot right near the front, which we started to regret once the reeeally young teenagers sprouted around.

We had no idea who the opening acts were until they were announced at the show. First came The Darcys, they were absolutely amazing live, it was not only a wonderful surprise but a great start to the show. They were meticulous, in a good way, and it showed - they had a great sound, despite being in a room with horrible acoustics.

After the Darcys were Zeus (from Toronto), the name sounded familiar but I had never heard any of their stuff. They played a great show and really got the crowd going, but I wasn’t crazy about them. Though I have to say, their guitarist/keyboardist with a glittery guitar strap had a fantastic porn-stache. Sadly I didn’t get any good photos of them.

Sara and I, being the old souls that we are, were already exhausted by the time the Arkells actually got onstage. We left after a couple of their songs. They’re pretty good live (and their keyboardist is absolutely stunning, by the way) but The Darcys performance really stood out and had an effect on me.

We felt like the oldest ones the whole time, until we were leaving and as we were heading for the back, of course, there were all the people who were our age/older. Actually, a bunch of friends had gone too, most of us having no idea anyone else went. Meh, you live and learn. We’ll remember it for the next show.

When we headed for the coat-check they kept asking us if we knew that we couldn’t get back in and if we were sure we wanted to leave…we had the same response from the doorman (even my parents were surprised at how early we came home). Before we left I picked up The Darcys first self-titled album and met the drummer, Wes, who we talked to for a while and was a great guy. I should have gotten a photo with him but I didn’t think of it until we were outside.

Eventually Sara and I did what we had wanted to do all night: couch, food, movies (Die Hard was on, Sara is a cheesy Bruce Willis fan like me). Overall, it was a fun night.

On a side note: Seriously, check out The Darcys they’re really great.
